Our Beliefs
|
We believe that God is the Divine Healer: Heal me, O Lord and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved for you are the One I praise Jeremiah 17:14 I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you. 2 Kings 20:5 We believe that as ministers of God’s Word, we (therapists, pastors, caregivers) are called to be witnesses to His healing power: You are my witnesses declares the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He....I have revealed and saved and proclaimed - I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses, declares the Lord, that I am God. Isa. 43:10-12 We believe in the Sovereign Triune of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit Who is all-knowing, all-powerful, ever present author of wisdom, knowledge, salvation and redemption. There is NO God beside Him. Because He is all powerful and full of wisdom He takes that which is VERY complicated and makes it simple:
We believe deprogramming is just a part of “setting the captives free.” We realize that programming and fragmenting a person’s mind robs them of their identity, especially their identity in Christ. The Bible tells us that we are made in the “image of God.” Deprogramming helps the survivor to find their true identity in Christ so that they progressively move into a relationship with Christ and become an active part of the Body of Christ. According to the Word of God there is real power in unity with the Body of Christ: I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the MEASURE OF ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD. Eph. 3:16-19 We believe in the resolution of trauma and the importance of memory work with every survivor. “My whole being will exclaim, who is like you, O Lord? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.” One of the most devastating effects of ritual abuse is the splitting of mind, emotion and will. Memory work is critical in the process of re-uniting the “whole being.” During the trauma, memories and feelings, along with the ability to discern spiritually, are dissociated through the use of deception, double-binds and forced vows. Each memory, feeling and choice is then shattered repeatedly making wholeness impossible apart from the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. Consequently, we see memory work as a critical part of wholeness. The integration of shattered memories and feelings give the survivor a sense of connection to reality. However, connecting memories and feelings without spiritual discernment re-traumatizes the survivor. Spiritual discernment involves bringing together truth to replace the lies with the end result being comfort and conviction of sin. “I, even I, am He who comforts you.” Isa. 51:12 He states that He is near the brokenhearted (Psa. 34:18). The Lord Jesus Christ wants to meet the survivor there and His touch brings comfort. The truth about His heart and His ultimate plan for the survivor frees them to feel His love. Spiritual discernment brings together the “whole” gospel - His love and comfort being one part. The gospel always brings conviction of sin (when it is needed) and demands repentance. At the fall, the nature of man was twisted and each succeeding generation was born into iniquity - “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” Psa. 51:5 Satan builds on this iniquity. These iniquities - fear, unbelief, rebellion and pride - become the pillars that hold the programming in place. For example, fear may result in making the vow to forget the truth and believe the lie. Repentance consists of choosing to face truth even in the midst of fear. It involves choosing to trust, which is based on new revelation of God. Choices have often been made in rebellion and pride - “I will protect” at all costs. The “I wills” made apart from God must be renounced.
The result of memory work should be a purified understanding of God. Survivors have the opportunity to know God in a unique way.
As repentance of the rebellion and pride takes place, fear is replaced by an unshakable faith and a “whole being” cries out “who is like you, O Lord.” We believe that no survivor should seek wholeness, integration, memories, truth, or lies, but rather, the ONE who provides wholeness, integration and reveals all truth and deceptions. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU AS WELL.” Matthew 6:33 |
